REDFORD TOWNSHIP, MI (WDIV/CNN) - A 95-year-old Michigan woman is fighting a parking ticket because she says the city has the wrong person.
Helen Sroka, 95, is in a fight with the City of Berkley over a $70 parking ticket.
"Heck yes, that's one month's groceries $70," Sroka said.
Sroka got a delinquent ticket notice in the mail for parking in front of a fire hydrant on April 1. She says she was not in Berkley, MI, and her car was not either.
Sroka says she has not driven to Berkley in years, but the ticket has Helen's license plate number, which is why it was mailed to her. The license plate was attached to a silver car, and Sroka's car is gold.
Sroka says whoever wrote the ticket obviously wrote down the wrong license plate number.
The City Manager of Berkley said the city will not dismiss the ticket without a hearing. So Sroka will have to make a case before a judge.
She says she will show up for that hearing to contest the ticket, but she will need someone to drive her there.
