Charleston police investigate homicide after shots fired

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston police officers are investigating a homicide that happened around 7:30 p.m. Friday.

According to police, dispatch received a call about shots fired in the area of Austin Avenue and Delano Street. Police and EMS arrived at the scene and found a male had been shot. EMS pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The Charleston County Coroner's Office has identified Paul Mitchell Jr., 24, from North Charleston as the victim of this shooting.

Police officers and detectives are investigating the cause of this shooting and gather information from neighbors to find possible suspect(s).
