COLUMBIA, SC (AP) - South Carolina environmental officials are holding three electronics recycling events across the state.
The Department of Health and Environmental Control says the events are important because a new state law taking effect July 1 will ban the dumping of computers, televisions, printers and other electronic items into landfills.
DHEC will accept those items from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Greenville Memorial Stadium, the State Farmers Market in West Columbia and Heritage Square Shopping Center in Summerville.
Environmental officials say it's important to recycle electronics because they can be used to make new products and they contain hazardous metals and other materials.
