COLUMBIA, SC (AP) - South Carolina Democrats are meeting at their annual convention and will pick a new chairman.
State Party Chairwoman Carol Fowler said Saturday she's leaving the party in good shape for a successor.
Fowler is not seeking a third term but is planning to stay involved by running in a four-way race for the party's second vice chairman position.
There's a three-way race to replace Fowler. Former Democratic Party Chairman Dick Harpootlian, Charleston businessman Phil Noble and Marion County Democratic Party Chairman Lee Jenkins are seeking the top post.
South Carolina Democrats have a presidential primary scheduled for Feb. 28, but Fowler said President Obama is the only candidate so it won't be a meaningful event.
South Carolina Republicans choose a chairman next weekend.
