Police arrested a 17-year-old boy after officers say they found a .45 caliber pistol in a bag he was carrying in North Charleston.
The North Charleston Police Department charged Stephawn Brown with unlawful carry of a pistol. Last Friday night, officers responded to 8465 Patriot Blvd. to investigate two suspicious subjects in the area.
Officers say they saw two suspects walking away from a building and into the woods. When an officer attempted to contact the two, police say the two subjects attempted to run and were stopped by officers.
The two told authorities that the reason why they ran is because they were scared and did not know who the officers were.
A police report states that officers located a black and gray bag where the subjects had entered the woods that contained a .45 cal pistol.
According to investigators, a black ski mask was found in Brown's right pants pocket. The second subject said that Brown had approached him earlier in the day and asked him if he wanted to go to Frankies.
The suspect then opened the bag to change his shoes and the witness said that he was able to see a black and gray bag inside. According to authorities, as Brown and the witness then walked through the woods, Brown dropped the bag and walked away from it.
Brown was locked up at the Dorchester County Jail.
