Shooting victim charged with possession of stolen gun

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A Johns Island teenager, who was a recent victim in a club shooting, was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen handgun by North Charleston police.

Police were called out to G & G Banquet Hall in North Charleston around midnight April 24 in reference to shots being fired in the area. When officers arrived on the scene they found numerous vehicles leaving the area and people running in different directions.

Witnesses say two young men began fighting inside the Banquet Hall when one of them started firing shots.

Jarell Bailey, 17, one of three victims shot that night was arrested in connection with the incident.

Investigators say that Bailey admitted that he fired one round in the parking lot of the club during the incident. Bailey was an occupant in a vehicle that requested aide from police officers responding to a separate incident on Rivers Avenue.

Police are still investigating the incident and ask anyone with information to call North Charleston Police at 554-5700 or Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.

Bailey is charged with possession of a stolen handgun and is being held at the Charleston County Detention Center.
