JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston County Sheriff's Office has charged William Davis Jr. with attempted murder after deputies say he slashed his former best friend's chest and fingers using a 3-foot machete.
On Tuesday night, the Charleston County Sheriff's Office responded to a home on Seaside Lane on James Island in reference to a stabbing.
When deputies arrived they located the victim who said that he was involved in a verbal argument with Davis. According to the victim, Davis slashed him in the chest and across the left hand with a 3-foot machete.
The victim told deputies that he knew the suspect and that they had been friends for several years. Deputies observed a deep laceration across the victim's chest and three deeply cut fingers. The machete was located at the scene and the victim was transported to MUSC for treatment.
Deputies say that the suspect had fled the scene and was not located at that time.
The next morning, deputies responded back to Seaside Lane for an assault and battery, where Davis said he had been attacked by two unknown black males. Davis said the two males approached him on Seaside Lane and began striking him with a metal chain.
As a result of the assault, Davis received minor injuries. He was transported to MUSC for treatment of his injuries.
Davis was then locked up on a $250,000 bond.
