Coroner: Kiawah Island fatal accident victim identified

The Charleston County Sheriff's Office says was called out to a fatal accident on Betsy Kerrison Parkway heading towards Kiawah Island Friday afternoon.

The Charleston County Coroner's Office says 31-year-old Alexis Guzman-Perez from Charleston died at the scene of the accident.

According to authorities Perez was on his way to work on Kiawah Island when he lost control of his car and hit a tree.

There were no other vehicles involved in this accident.

    Activists say they will accept "no more excuses" from lawmakers who fail to pass stricter gun laws. The "NoMoreExcuses" movement was sparked by the Feb. 14 school shooting in Parkland, Florida, in which 17 people died at at Stoneman Douglas High School.
