Shot fired through Walterboro kitchen; Bullet lands on coffee table

WALTERBORO, SC (WCSC) - Walterboro police are investigating after they say a stray bullet was shot into a home and landed on the coffee table Sunday afternoon.

Residents of a home on Dean Street called police after a bullet was allegedly shot into their home through the kitchen window. Upon arrival, officers interviewed the victim who said they did not hear a gunshot, but heard the bullet hit the window causing it to break.

The bullet apparently had a downward angle to it and entered the residence, bounced off the wall and landed on the coffee table.

According to police, from the angle of the bullet, it appeared the shot came from the direction of Forest Point Apartments. Five different individuals were interviewed at the apartment complex and all stated that the shot came from the Heirs Corner area of the county.

There are no suspects at this time and the bullet was been turned in as evidence.
