LATTA, SC (WMBF) – The former band director for Latta High School is back behind bars Monday after allegedly having contact with a victim.
According to Lt. Crystal Moore with the Latta Police Department, Matthew Tyler Hutto has been rebooked into the Dillon County Detention Center after contacting a former female student he is accused of having an inappropriate relationship with.
Hutto was charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor for alleged incidents that occurred as he was serving as Latta High School's band director. Hutto is also facing pornography charges.
Moore said Hutto contacted the victim by phone, email and in person. He will now be placed under house arrest with GPS monitoring and will likely be behind bars until Wednesday.
In April, Hutto was released on bond from the Dillon County Detention Center.
Meanwhile, Latta School District Superintendent John Kirby said a new band director will be announced during a school board meeting Monday night.
