Genealogical conference helping people learn about their roots

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Through this weekend hundreds of people from all over the country will gather to find out more about their family history.

All the information you need to begin your search will be in all be in one place during the National Genealogical Society's Conference at the North Charleston Convention Center.

"I enjoy it because I get to meet new people and learn new techniques and enjoy old friends,"said attendee Dr. Deborah Abbott.

This is the fourth Genealogical Conference for the Cleveland native. Abbott started searching her families history back in 1989.

"Its up to us as the researcher to decide when to stop and I'm not ready to stop," Abbott said.

"Its about the story and about finding out who your ancestors are where they lived and their occupation," said Conference Chair Jane Alpert.

The Conference continues through Saturday at the North Charleston Convention Center.

More than 2,000 people attended last years conference in Salt Lake City Utah.
