Deputies: Money, drugs found near Russellville homicide victim

BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office released an incident report Saturday that says responding deputies found money and drugs next to the body of a homicide victim Wednesday morning.

The fatal shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. on Gladiola Way in Russellville. Investigators say the victim, 23-year-old Chad Williams, was taken to a hospital where he died.

The sheriff's office released a sketch of a man suspected in the homicide. A witness at the scene gave the description.

The incident report says that when deputies arrived on scene they found Williams lying on the kitchen floor suffering from what appeared to be four gunshot wounds. Authorities say they found a large amount of cash on the floor along with a small bag plastic bag containing drugs. Both were found next to Williams.

Authorities say Williams shot in his left shoulder, right thigh and calf and his right bicep.

Deputies haven't ruled out a link between this homicide and a manhunt suspect who authorities have been searching for since Wednesday afternoon.

A neighbor said he heard several gunshots related to Wednesday morning's homicide.

"I was shocked but then again I was not shocked," said neighbor Sherman Glover. "I tell you why because of the gun shots, they weren't bird hunting."
