Department of Justice to inspect Berkeley Co. Detention Center

The Department of Justice plans to send a team of lawyers to conduct a site inspection at the Berkeley County Detention Center Monday morning.

Officials say the purpose of their visit is to determine whether inmates are being given enough reading material and religious material while housed as pretrial detainees.

In addition, the federal court has ordered a review of 40,500 inmates files.
