Fourth suspect in student's murder nabbed in Mount Pleasant

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC - Authorities say a 23-year-old man wanted in connection to a SC State student's murder, surrendered to police in Mount Pleasant Thursday night.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division charged Maurice Shatodd Thompson for accessory after the fact of murder in connection to the April 15 shooting death of Johnathan Bailey.

Thompson was locked up at the Orangeburg Detention Center.

Investigators have already charged 22-year-old Ray Anthony Alston Jr. with murder, 22-year-old Hillard D. Pinkney with accessory after fact of murder and a 16-year-old juvenile with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

A SLED report states that the suspects are accused of meeting Bailey on campus for a pre-arranged drug deal. According to investigators, after a brief discussion, the victim tried to escape from the men and was shot in the chest.
