NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (AP) - A nonprofit is trying to help out South Carolinians struggling to avoid foreclosure with a free workshop.
Family Services Inc.'s Homeownership Resource Center is holding a daylong event in North Charleston on Saturday to discuss personal finances and homeownership.
Topics include tips on avoiding foreclosure and one-on-one meetings with foreclosure counselors. Attendees are encouraged to bring their most recent mortgage statement, recent pay stubs and bank statements.
There are also sessions on money management and advice for first-time homebuyers.
Earlier this month, South Carolina's chief justice ordered a stop to all pending foreclosures until the banks and homeowners involved can complete an intervention process.
