A man suspected of shooting and killing a 32-year-old man in Moncks Corner over the weekend has been arrested.
Moncks Corner police say they have arrested 29-year-old Ricardo Mendoza in connection with the murder of Edwin Velasquez-Rodriguez, who was found by police in his car at the Park City Mobile Home Park.
Moncks Corner officers recovered Mendoza's vehicle. Investigators say he knew the victim. So far, there is no motive for the murder.
The gruesome discovery was made at the mobile home park off Highway 52, just after 9 p.m. Saturday night.
Residents say they heard multiple gunshots, up to five of them, which they describe as sounding like firecrackers. Then they say they heard a car speed off from the scene.
Police say someone called them right after hearing the gunfire. Police say they found the man in his vehicle, dead from gunshot wounds. Just near the crime scene were a set of fresh tire tracks left behind in the grass.
