GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCSC) - A student at Marrington Middle School could be expelled after a school administrator found a 3.5-inch knife in his book bag last week.

According to the Goose Creek Police Department, the bag was left at the school playground on Tuesday, March 17, and Principal Jim Spencer found the knife while attempting to figure out who owned the bag.

The incident report describes the knife as a fixed blade with a wooden handle and a brown leather sheath.

Police say the student was suspended and recommended for expulsion following a conference with the suspect's family.

The student is charged with carrying a weapon on school property and will appear in the Berkeley County Family Court.
