One person was killed Wednesday morning after a head-on-collision between a tractor-trailer carrying boats and a car.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol confirmed that a Nissan Altima and a tractor-trailer collided at 6:30 a.m. on Highway 61 near Red Oak Road. The driver of the Nissan was killed.
The truck, which was carrying three boats, overturned and the driver was transported to Colleton Hospital.
According to highway patrol, the truck was traveling north on Highway 61 when the Nissan crossed the center line and struck the truck head-on.
The roadway was shut down for approximately five hours, but has since reopened.
The collision is under investigation by highway patrol.
