Man charged with obstruction in downtown Charleston homicide

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police have charged a man with obstruction of justice in the late April homicide of a 24-year-old North Charleston man.

Charleston Police Department says 21-year-old Kyser Montgomery, of 2225 Delano Street, attempted to hinder or impede the murder investigation by concealing information about the murder, which happened near the intersection of Delano Street and Austin Avenue.

24-year-old Paul Mitchell Jr. was found dead on April 29 around 7:30 p.m.

Montgomery was arrested during the early afternoon on Wednesday.  He is being held in the Charleston County Detention Center.
