Folly Beach officials prepare for massive Memorial Day crowds

FOLLY BEACH, SC (WCSC) - Thousand of visitors are headed to the Lowcountry for Memorial Day weekend.

While everyone enjoys sun and sand, local police want you to be on the lookout for those who may be causing trouble.

Folly Beach Public Safety officers ask you to keep an eye out for drunk drivers, people littering, and other crimes.

"A lot of times people come in and trash our area," said Pete Larri, a local of Folly Beach.

He said the crowds of tourists sometimes bring in riff-raff.

"I'll definitely be looking out for drunk drivers and taking down license plate numbers," said Larri.

Local businesses are gearing up for the crowds as well. Local restaurant manager, Leah Franklin, said their employees will be working over-time.

"We have to plan ahead. We always order more food and drinks for holiday weekends," said Franklin.

So no matter what you're doing this weekend, police ask that you are aware of your surroundings and are respectful of others.
