Driver sought after leading police on high-speed chase

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police are on the lookout for a 28-year-old man who led police on a chase in North Charleston early Thursday morning.

The North Charleston Police Department is looking for Robert Wallace Putnam for failure to stop for blue lights and siren and trafficking methamphetamines. Authorities are also looking for another suspect described as a 25-year-old male, 5'9", 160 lbs and dressed in dark clothing.

It all started when an officer saw a Kia Sephia fail to signal before a turn in the area of Fain Street and Eagle Drive.

When the officer attempted to stop the car, the driver turned and accelerated quickly reaching speeds of up to 70 mph, police say.

According to investigators, at one point, the car slowed down in front of an apartment where a man jumped out of the car and ran towards an apartment complex.

Police say the chase ended when the suspect stopped at a dead end on West Spartan Boulevard, got out of the car and took off on foot. Officers say they found a bag with 10 grams of meth in the car.

If you have any information you are asked to call police.
