Investigators from the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office seized 9 illegal poker machines, 95 cases of beer, and 25 packs of cigarettes from a local grocery in Norway last week.

According to Sheriff Leroy Ravenell, a Special Operations investigation concluded that underaged customers at Garrick's Grocery, located on Norway Road, were able to purchase and drink beer at the store.

Business owners John P. Garrick and Sharon M. Garrick were charged with the sale of beer without an alcohol license.  A minor was charged with possession of alcohol.

Ravenell said, "We have received repeated complaints about Garrick's Grocery having illegal poker machines, selling alcohol without a license, and selling beer to minors. We will continue following up on complaints received by this office and conducting investigations to force businesses into compliance or shut them down."

In addition to $1410 in fines, Sharon Garrick will be charged with possession of illegal poker machines.
