Teen left for dead two years ago graduates this week

HOLLYWOOD, SC (WCSC) - A teenager who was beaten into a coma and thrown from a moving vehicle in Hollywood in 2009 will graduate from high school Thursday.

In an exclusive interview, 19-year-old Adonis Blake said he has tossed his wheelchair and walker and is ready to walk across the graduation stage.

"I'm glad to graduate because I can pursue my dreams in life and make my mother feel better that she knows her son is still alive," Blake said. "I don't need a walker, no wheelchair. I was in a wheelchair, now I'm up. I can do what I gotta do."

Blake's mother said she knew her son would walk again.

"Yes I did believe in God, a miracle, this is a miracle day, to see my child walk across that stage, that's a blessing," said Shirley Blake.

Adonis said he hopes to attend South Carolina State University.

The two teens accused in the attack on Blake are still awaiting trial.
