HOLLYWOOD, SC (WCSC) - A 19-year-old teenager who was beaten into a coma and thrown from a moving vehicle in Hollywood in 2009 will graduate from high school on Thursday.
A high school diploma will mark a major milestone for Adonis Blake. Blake is the Baptist Hill high school student who was beaten, pushed out of a moving truck and left for dead two years ago.
But on Thursday, after what some consider a miraculous recovery, Blake will walk across the stage and graduate at the Performing Arts Center in North Charleston.
He's hoping to attend South Carolina State University in Orangeburg.
"I'm glad to graduate because I can pursue my dreams in life and make my mother feel better that she knows her son is still alive," Blake said. "I don't need a walker, no wheelchair. I was in a wheelchair, now I'm up. I can do what I gotta do."
