Charleston man arrested for W. Va. bank robberies

KANAWHA COUNTY, WV (WCSC/AP) - A suspect in a Goose Creek bank robbery and two West Virginia bank robberies has been arrested.

The FBI said Friday that 48-year-old Samuel Glenn Garwood of Charleston, SC was arrested Thursday evening at a Cross Lanes motel by Kanawha County, WV sheriff's deputies.

Garwood is also wanted by the Goose Creek Police Department for allegedly holding up a First Federal Bank branch two weeks ago.

Police say Garwood entered the bank located on St. James Avenue on May 20 and presented a note to the teller demanding money. Authorities say Garwood left the scene with an unreported amount of cash.

Garwood is also a suspect in the West Virginia robberies of the Universal Credit Union in Barboursville, WV on Wednesday and the Pioneer Federal Credit Union in South Charleston, WV on May 26.
