NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A man with outstanding warrants for cocaine possession was caught with more drugs Tuesday night and was picked up by North Charleston police.
Lamar Anthony Brown, 20, is charged with trafficking cocaine and possession with intent to distribute within 1/2 mile of a school.
Brown was arrested after North Charleston police received a tip from a bail bondsman that Brown was in the area. The tip also referenced a white Mercedes parked on Kent Avenue, a police report states.
Officers arrived on scene and located the car and observed Brown walk into a Sorntrue Drive residence through the front door. According to the police report, officers then entered the residence with the permission of the home owner.
During a search, officers found a clear plastic bag of cocaine in Brown's front left pant pocket. The cocaine weighed approximately 8.6 grams. Brown was placed under arrest and transported to Charleston County Detention Center.
Once at the detention center, police checked the back seat of the patrol car where Brown was seated. Officers located three clear plastic bags containing a total of 2.2 grams of cocaine. When asked about the substance found in the back seat, Brown admitted to putting it there, according to police.
