Georgetown marine recovering after Afghanistan bomb blast

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A 21-year-old marine from Georgetown County continues to recover Wednesday morning after he was seriously hurt in a bomb blast in Afghanistan.

According to the Georgetown Times, Cpl. Burness Britt was injured by an IED while on patrol with about 15 other marines from his unit Saturday.

He received shrapnel to the neck during the blast.

He has also undergone surgery to relieve swelling on his brain after having a stroke.
