$100k bond for man charged with child porn possession

WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - A Charleston man is facing child pornography charges after police arrested him at his West Ashley apartment on Wednesday.

49-year-old Michael Edward Godkin was apprehended by Charleston Police Department officers at his residence on Ashley River Road.

Arrest warrants state that various images of minors having sexual relations were discovered on Godkin's laptop.  The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children assisted with the arrest.

Godkin is charged with 3rd degree sexual exploitation of a minor.  At a Thursday bond hearing, a judge issued Godkin a $100,000 bond.  He was also told to stay away from anyone under 18, including family members.

Godkin, who says he is permanently disabled, appeared in court in a wheelchair.

He is being held in the Charleston County Detention Center.
