North Charleston man busted for Best Buy armed robbery

WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston Police Department has arrested a 49-year-old man accused of robbing a Best Buy in West Ashley.

Bruce Kenny Hester is charged with armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. Hester surrendered to police Thursday afternoon.

On April 14 at 4:30 p.m., a man entered the Best Buy and spent about 30 minutes with a sales clerk discussing the different types of laptops that were available.

The man eventually selected a laptop and walked to the front of the store with the sales clerk.

According to investigators, he then pulled out a handgun, pointed it at the sales clerk and ordered the sales clerk to walk toward the rear of the store. He then left the store with the laptop.

The investigation is ongoing.
