COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Steve Spurrier says 1,000-yard rusher Mike Davis hasn't practiced this week and might not be ready when the ninth-ranked Gamecocks open the season against No. 21 Texas A&M in a week. RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - North Carolina State safety Jarvis Byrd is working his way back from the third serious knee injury of his college career. Byrd tore his left anterior cruciate ligament at Wake Forest last year. It was the same injury that sidelined him for the 2011 season.
