SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - Allegiant Air is planning to stop offering nonstop flights from Savannah to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. after less than a year in the market.
The carrier said this week its last day of service to the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport will be July 24.
Allegiant began service from the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport in November 2010. But Allegiant president Andrew Levy said the flight will have to be shut down "due to lack of market demand."
Overall, passenger numbers at Savannah's airport were up slightly in 2010.
Las Vegas-based Allegiant is part of a travel company that also sells hotel rooms and car rentals.
