NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Three people are in custody after police say they tried to steal a man's moped and then shot at the victim as he attempted to take it back.

Officers were called to Cambridge Avenue and Accabee Road in reference to someone being shot at Saturday night. North Charleston police arrested two juveniles and 20-year-old Inahia Deshawan Moody in connection with the incident.

Officers met with the victim who said he was walking home when he observed three males walking on the sidewalk pushing a blue and silver moped.

As he was looking at the males, one of the suspects yelled across the street and asked the victim "What are you looking at?" The victim told police that he was looking because he owns a moped that matches the one they were pushing.

When the victim arrived home he noticed his gate was unsecured and his moped was missing. He then ran back to where he saw the males pushing the moped. As he approached, he started yelling at the suspects and they began to run toward Accabee Road. At that time they jumped on bicycles.

The chain to one of the suspect's bike broke and the victim almost caught up to him, a police report states. Police say the suspect then grabbed a gun from his waistband and fired a shot at the victim who retreated to a trash pile on the side of Cambridge Avenue.

The suspects were located by police officers and placed under arrest. The handgun was also recovered.

Two of the suspects are juveniles and are charged with petite larceny and attempted murder. Moody, is charged with unlawful carrying of a firearm and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
