Truck wrecks on Hwy 61; 1 Victim flown to MUSC, 2 others hospitalized

SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Authorities say three people have been taken to the hospital following a crash on Highway 61 near Highway 17A Tuesday morning.

The wreck involved three employees of Dorchester County Water and Sewer. Authorities say their pick-up truck was traveling down Highway 61 when it crossed the center line, hit a tree and crashed on the side of Highway 61 around 8:40 a.m.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol says the driver, 38-year-old Shane Douglas of Roundo, was flown to MUSC where he is listed in critical condition.

One of the passengers was taken to Trident Hospital by ambulance and another was transported by ground to MUSC.
