1 injured after North Charleston shooting

Posted: Updated:

North Charleston police are investigating an overnight shooting that injured one person.

The shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. Friday on Ashley Shores Drive, which is off Azalea Drive.  Officers responded to a home on Ashley Shores Drive in reference to multiple calls for shots fired and a man down.

Officers located a 19-year-old man in the kitchen of the home suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim would not tell police what happened and was transported to MUSC in serious condition.

According to witnesses, the victim was involved in an altercation with other men outside of the home when gunshots were heard and the victim was brought inside of the residence.

A black Chevrolet Tahoe parked in the area was found to have a bullet hole in the rear door.  A witness said that after he heard the shots he heard the victim scream for help. The witness said he then found the victim with gunshot wounds.

The incident remains under investigation and detectives are working to obtain more information on the suspect.
