Marshals arrest man twice charged with attempted murder

A man that has been charged with attempted murder twice is now in police custody.

Erick Tomlinson Wannamaker was arrested June 14 in Charlotte.

Wannamaker received bond for an attempted murder charge in January. After being bailed out, he became the suspect in a second attempted murder on April 23. Wannamaker has been hiding from the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office ever since.

U.S. Marshals got involved in the case on April 28. They teamed with the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office to form an investigative task force called Operation In.

The investigation led members of the task force to Charlotte. A surveillance team set up outside an apartment complex and observed Wannamaker entering the building.

Wannamaker was arrested without incident and taken to the Mecklenburg County Detention Center. He is currently awaiting an extradition hearing.

"Our combined law enforcement officers of local, state and federal agents have made this another successful fugitive arrest for South Carolina. Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office can now begin the prosecution of Wannamaker and bring closure to the victims and their families," said U.S. Marshal for the District of South Carolina Kelvin Washington.
