Man arrested after robbing cab driver at gunpoint

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A man suspected of robbing a cab driver at gunpoint early Saturday morning has been arrested and charged with strong armed robbery.

Police officers responded to the robbery at around 5 a.m. Saturday in North Charleston.

The cab driver stated that he picked up the suspect and drove him to Pepperhill in North Charleston.

After the passenger reached his destination, he reportedly put a gun to the cab driver's head and demanded money. The cab driver gave the passenger cash and ID cards.

The suspect then fled on foot toward Cross County Road. Police made it to the scene shortly thereafter.

After patrolling the area, officers saw a man matching the suspect's description walking into a Kangaroo convenience store on Dorchester Road. They accosted the suspect and found a .22 caliber revolver in his pocket along with the items stolen from the cab driver.

The suspect has been identified as 22 year old Cordero Ramon Lyde. He is expected to have a bond hearing Sunday.
