RIDGEVILLE, SC (WCSC)
A small plane had to make an emergency landing on the railroad tracks in the middle of Ridgeville on Saturday.
A small yellow Piper Super Cub plane landed on the tracks after experiencing engine trouble. No one was hurt.
The pilot told Dorchester County sheriff's deputies that he landed at the Summerville airport to try and refuel, but the fuel tanks were locked. A short time after taking off, the pilot began to have engine problems and tried to make an emergency landing.
The pilot managed to avoid businesses and homes near the tracks. A wing was bent when it hit lights at an intersection. The plane was pulled off the tracks late Saturday.
The plane had been pulling advertising banners and the owner says it may have had engine problems. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
