CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A well known chef to the Holy City has died.
Rose Nyguen Durden, 63, also known as Mama Rosa passed away on Saturday night, a day before her 64th birthday.
She became ill after a trip home to Vietnam several weeks ago and died at MUSC.
Durden came to Charleston in the late 60's and was known for integrating Asian cuisine with Charleston's fusion of French, Caribbean and African influences.
Durden worked at Carolina's for several years.
