Facebook shuts down page of inmate jailed for killing Goose Creek man

COLUMBIA, SC (WCSC) -

Facebook has shut down two online pages being run by a South Carolina inmate who is behind bars for killing a Goose Creek man in 2007.

The S.C. Department of Corrections says 28-year-old Michael Maxwell is locked up at the Lee Correctional Institution in Bishopville. State officials began to investigate pages Maxwell had started from within his cell on Facebook and MySpace.

Maxwell was even posting pictures from inside of his cell and chatting to people about buying guns.

Maxwell pleaded guilty in 2010 to the deadly shooting of Christopher Dale Teseniar in Berkeley County.

Maxwell admitted he broke into Teseniar's Goose Creek home and shot him in his bed.

Police say the two men knew each other, but weren't friends.

Facebook confirmed that it shut down the pages because they violated the social networking site's policies.
