The Island Packet of Hilton Head reports the gator could be 12 feet long.
Hilton Head Island Plantation general manager Peter Kristian says officials got the first complaint about 10 days ago. Kristian wanted to give the gator a chance to wriggle back through the storm pipes but the gator may be stuck and may not be able to turn around.
A local gator trapper is being called in Friday. There's no rush to come up with a plan because officials say the gator could survive in the drain for a year without eating.
