Deputy injured after car accident in West Ashley

WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - A Charleston County Sheriff's Deputy was involved in an accident that happened early Saturday morning in West Ashley on Highway 61.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol the accident happened around 2:30 a.m.

Troopers say the deputy was trying to make a left turn into Plainview Road when he was struck in the rear by a 2010 Toyota Rav-4.

Troopers say the driver of the Toyota was charged with driving too fast for conditions. The deputy was taken to St. Francis Hospital and the extend of his injuries are unknown at this time.

This accident is under investigation by the SC Highway Patrol.
