246th Army Band Summer Tour makes a stop in Charleston

SULLIVAN'S ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Fort Sumter National Monument invites the public to celebrate Carolina Day with a free concert Sunday evening.

The 246th Army Band of the South Carolina National Guard will perform free a concert tonight at 7 on Sullivan's Island at Fort Moultrie.

The band is commanded by Chief Warrant Officer Jessie Morlan and is made up of 32 National Guard soldiers who serve part-time. The band will perform patriotic and popular music.

This event will take place outside so visitors are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket and insect repellant.

The South Carolina National Guard has more than 11,000 soldiers and airmen who serve their state and nation. South Carolina National Guard member deploy worldwide when called by the National Command Authority or Governor.
