JOHNS ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - A Johns Island man was killed Monday after getting caught underneath his vehicle as it was being towed.
The Charleston County Coroner's Office says that 74-year-old Arthur Heyward was killed at 1:30 p.m. Monday after an accident on Resurrection Drive on Johns Island. According to the coroner's office, Heyward's car was being towed and he somehow got caught under the vehicle.
The cause of death is listed as asphyxia by mechanical compression.
The Charleston County Sheriff's Office and the John's Island Fire Department responded to the scene.
The coroner's office will conduct an autopsy Tuesday.
