Lightning strike knocks out Williamsburg County 911 system

WILLIAMSBURG COUNTY, SC -

Williamsburg County officials say a lightning strike has knocked out their 911 system.

Officials say the county's 911 center was hit by lightning Wednesday afternoon causing damage to phone lines and radio systems in the center.

Crews are working to restore parts of the system until back-up system arrives.

The county is urging citizens to first call 911 and if they are not successful then to call the administration lines, which are 843-354-5701,843-354-3513, or 843-354-3795, if you have an emergency.

Emergency phone lines have been re-routed to Clarendon County E-911
