Deputies: Woman sexually assaulted during home invasion

LADY'S ISLAND, SC (WTOC) - The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is investigating the attack of Lady's Island woman in her home Wednesday afternoon.

Just after 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, deputies responded to the area of Sunrise Bluff on report of a burglary and sexual assault that had just happened. Deputies met with a 22-year-old woman who said she had been raped by an unknown subject.

The victim had just returned from work when an unknown black male entered the home behind her, according to the sheriff's office. The man then physically and sexually assaulted her before fleeing the house in an unknown direction.

The suspect was described as a dark-skinned black male in his mid-to late 20s and has a shaved head. He is about 6 feet tall and weighs 150 lbs. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans.

The sheriff's office is asking anyone with information to contact either Investigator Sgt. C. Wilson at 843.255.3409 or the Beaufort County Dispatch Center at 843.524.2777.
