Bond set at $10k for man suspected of stealing copper

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The man police say was arrested for stealing about 100 pounds of copper from a North Charleston business faced a judge on Thursday and remains behind bars.

38-year-old Shawn Justin Burris was given a $10,000 bond. Burris was arrested at a recycling center after police say he broke into Leatherwood Manufacturing and stole copper from five air conditioners.

Police say he was out of jail on bond for a sexual assault charge from May when he was arrested again this week.

He's facing several charges related to the theft.
