Charleston Council votes on next administrator

CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Charleston County deputy administrator, Kurt Taylor, is on his way to the top spot.

A county council committee has recommended Taylor be moved up, when current administrator  Allen O'Neal retires sometime next year in January.

The move still needs a vote by the full council, which is expected to come on Tuesday July 5th at 7p.m.

County spokeswoman Jennie Davis says the promotion is also dependant on contract negotiations. Taylor is a familiar figure in local government.  He also serves on North Charleston City Council, representing the 9th district.
