A North man has been sentenced to one year in prison for threatening to kill President Barack Obama.
U.S. Attorney Bill Nettles says 33-year-old Stanley Chester Weber was sentenced Thursday and also ordered to undergo
psychiatric and substance abuse treatment. Weber pleaded guilty to threatening the president earlier this year.
Authorities say Weber called a federal government help line in September and said he was going to shoot and kill the president, asking the operator what she was going to do about it.
The same person called back five minutes later and repeated the threat. Investigators traced the call to Weber's home in North.
Secret Service agents say Weber told them making the calls were stupid and he was sorry. Authorities say Weber was drinking at the time.
