Over 120 Airmen from Charleston have returned home from the Middle East in time to celebrate the Fourth of July at home.
Service men and women from the 17th Airlift Squadron were met by family members and friends as they landed back in Charleston Friday after a 120 day deployment in Turkey. These Airmen supported combat operations in the U.S. Central Command area.
The squadron logged almost 8,500 combat flying hours and helped transport over 107 million pounds of combat material. The group airlifted more than 186,000 Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen from other squadrons throughout the area. These Airmen also delivered 1.4 million pounds of cargo over the course of 29 combat airdrops.
