Vigil held for doctor killed on bicycle on James Island connector

JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - A private vigil is being held for a 54-year-old doctor who died following an accident on the James Island connector on Tuesday.

The East Cooper Medical Center is holding the private vigil for Dr. Mitchell Hollon.

Authorities say Hollon was riding his bicycle on the connector when a van drifted into the bike lane then struck Hollon who fell over the connector.

East Cooper Medical Center officials say Hollon was a doctor who worked for Mount Pleasant Anesthesiology.

The Charleston County Coroner's Office says Hollon died from full blunt trauma.
